It is with incredible sadness to inform our Woodside School community ofBradley
the passing of Chris Bradley after a long battle with cancer. Coach Chris led and organized the co-ed Upper School Tennis Team for over 10 years and taught countless WES students how to play and love the sport of tennis on private courts around town. Chris was able to make sure everyone had a great time when they played for him, at practices and in matches. Coach Chris was always kind and fair to all players and maintained a positive attitude in every situation he faced. At his epic end-of-season award celebrations, Chris would find something witty and positive to say about every single player on the team as he handed out awards. Woodside School owes much to Coach Chris for making our Upper School tennis team experience something truly special and a wonderful memory for all of his players. Coach Chris, we will miss you very much.

About Coach: Chris graduated from Stanford and was one of the tennis program's strongest and avid supporters. He spent over 30 years from 1975 to 2008 at Alpine Swim & Tennis Club as their Tennis Director. At Alpine, he coached teams to 17 Northern California USTA Junior League team championships and 11 state USTA Junior League team championships. For 28 consecutive years, from 1981 to 2008, his teams were Midpeninsula Junior Interclub champions.

Among his honors over the years, he was named USPTA NorCal Pro of the Year in 1982 and 1986, and USPTA NorCal Coach of the Year in 1994. In 2013, Chris won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the U.S. Professional Tennis Association.

Chris was one of those unique individuals that loved what he did but more importantly loved those he did it with. He had a youthful excitement about all things tennis and never forgot the name of someone he met. The tennis community has lost a pied piper, leader, and friend who will be missed, not only by the tennis community but all those he crossed paths with.

Chris is survived by his wife, Catherine, children, Matthew and Celinda, and three grandchildren. If you would like to send a letter of condolence to Chris' family, notes can be sent to Catherine Frosi, 1107 Pilger Road, Boulder Creek, CA 95006 and/or Matthew and Celinda Bradley, 1170 Hopkins Gulch Road, Boulder Creek, CA. 95006.

Many of you have asked how you can help Chris’ family. His daughter, Celinda, has set up a GoFundMe account to help with ongoing family medical expenses. Please feel free to share this link with friends outside the Alpine family as it will be greatly appreciated: gf.me/u/zhtkr2

In addition, if you have any photos of Chris with one of his tennis teams or former students/players or want to include quotes about Chris, please forward them to mahlstrom@woodsideschool.us to be posted on this page as a dedication to Coach Chris. Thank you.
